Installing Action Tracking - Getting WordStream's Action Tracking Set Up

Action tracking refers to the recording of various "actions" (also known as conversions or goals). Actions, as it regards search marketing, are actions you the marketer want your site's visitors to perform. Some examples would be:

  • Sales
  • Leads (filling out a contact form)
  • Free trials
  • White paper downloads

This lets the software provide you with better keyword grouping suggestions and allows you to customize the prioritization of your workflow.

You can get WordStream's action tracking set up quickly and easily. We'll take you through the process step by step in the following tutorial.

Google Analytics Action Tracking: WordStream now offers the option to link your Google Analytics account and automatically import conversion goals. To learn more, read the Google Analytics Integration Tutorial.

Installing WordStream's JavaScript Action Tracking

First, you need to install WordStream's JavaScript analytics on all your pages. To learn more about this process, please see our getting started guide.

Once you have the code installed on your site, you simply navigate to the "Settings" tab, maximize the "Conversion Goals" section and click "Add Conversion Goal" (the green plus sign):
