Google API Tokens

Google API tokens track communication between your Google AdWords account and your WordStream account.  With each interaction, changes you make in WordStream flow through to your AdWords account, so you don't have to duplicate efforts.

NOTE: Attaining AdWords API Tokens generally takes between one and two weeks, as your application has to be reviewed.

We've created a handy PDF that should help to walk you through the process of obtaining Google AdWords API Keys from AdWords.

With so many different aspects of search engine marketing, you may find yourself using multiple programs to manage the same keywords.  With one tool to manage bids, one to group keywords, one to track conversions, and one to assist with writing adtext, it's easy to feel overwhelmed.

With WordStream, you can segment keywords, manage bids, report conversions and get adtext suggestions, all in one place.

What are api tokens?

WordStream has an API (application programming interface) with Google to allow communication between your Google AdWords account(s) and your WordStream account.  In this way, you can segment keywords, optimize workflow, and create and write ad groups from the same place.

API credits indicate how much information is transferred between your accounts.  You'll notice that each time you "Download Account Changes" or "Post Account Changes," your credits will increase.

do i need to enter them?

WordStream client services automatically enter the necessary tokens when creating your trial account.  However, you may want to visit this area to assign a default URL for your ads and put a limit on keywords that WordStream discovers for your long tail.  The bottom number limits the number of keywords in each ad group that WordStream transfers to your AdWords account.

To make changes here, visit the "Create PPC Campaigns" tab and select "Settings."  Be sure to hit "Apply" to update your edits.

Google charges a rate each time API credits are used.  Because we want you to get the most out of our product, WordStream covers this cost.  You may visit Google's API Rate Table for more information on cost per credit.
