Google announces long-rumored Chrome OS
The King of Search makes so many announcements these days (Google Wave! Google Squared! Apps are out of beta!) that it's hard to drum up too much excitement about another one—it's not quite "Christmas in July" as Matt Cutts tweeted on July 8. We talked with search behavior expert Jim Jansen on click behavior, Twitter and the potential for a "Google killer." Read the full interview for Jansen's thoughts on the "integrated SERP" of the future and what it will take to change the search game. Also check out our interview with Eric Lander, search specialist and independent consultant, on how Google is like the mob and search is like the Wild West.
WordStream takes home MITX Promise Award
In the words of founder Larry Kim, it was an honor just to be nominated … but far more thrilling to win! At its 6thAnnual Technology Awards, the Massachusetts Innovation and Technology Exchange chose WordStream as the winner of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Promise Award for Online Advertising. WordStream was selected from six finalists and many more applicants in its category to take home the award, created for young technology companies that show extraordinary potential. Kim said, "It's very rewarding to be recognized as an innovator by MITX, since we share a commitment to finding solutions that increase the productivity and effectiveness of marketers working in the digital age. We thank our customers for their continued support."
