You'll need to add keywords to your WordStream account before you can get started on your natural and paid search [2] marketing campaigns. You have several options for adding keywords [3]. Click the "Import Keywords" button to choose an option:

Your first option is to import a keyword list using our keyword suggestion tool [4] (based on the Google keyword tool [5] API). This is a great option if you have a very new website or haven't yet launched a website, but want to get started on creating a basic keyword list [6]. To use the tool, enter a word or phrase [7] or a URL, and the tool will generate a list of relevant keywords.

If you already have a list of keywords from WordStream's Free Keyword Tool [8] or an external tool, you can upload a text file to add those keywords to your WordStream keyword database [9].

As a third option, simply copy and paste your keywords into a text block.

Advanced options for adding keywords
We recommend that after trying the above basic options for adding keywords to your account, you employ one or both of the advanced keyword import options. These options will provide you with historical and ongoing keyword data to ensure that your database is personalized and relevant, and expands over time.
To establish a continuous keyword stream from your website, select the fourth option. WordStream provides a JavaScript code snippet to install on the footer of your website. When you choose this option, the JavaScript tracker will add new keywords to your database everyday based on the actual search queries that lead new visitors to your website.
The final advance option is to add keywords parsed from your Web server log files. This is an excellent way to leverage the valuable, highly relevant keyword [10] data you already have, but may not know what to do with.
When you select this option, you'll be prompted to download the WordStream Keyword Discovery Tool [11].

The tool will parse your historical log file data to find your best keywords [12]—real data based on your website's actual visitors. You can then analyze [13], segment [14] and further take action on those keywords for profitable PPC campaigns [15].
