99 Online Marketing Tools You Won’t Be Able to Live Without

To say that digital marketers have to be jacks-of-all-trades is a considerable understatement. Marketers don’t often get the recognition they deserve for having to master so many different software tools, but if there’s one profession that requires knowledge of more tools than a Swiss army knife, online marketing is it.

Online marketing tools

To help marketers save time and get more done, we've rounded up our top 99 online marketing tools for small businesses and big businesses alike. This huge list of marketing tools includes (almost!) every tool you’ll ever need to master (almost!) every aspect of a digital marketing campaign, from PPC and SEO to social to content and email marketing. Some tools are very specific, whereas others offer robust, diverse functionality. Some are free, others are not. Either way, you can check out the whole list, or skip to the section on the online marketing strategy you’re most interested in:

What a great list! Will definitely have to make sure we're using all of these!

Anand (Hubbion.com)
Jul 19, 2016

Definitely agreed. As someone who runs a multi-channel marketing platform for small businesses, there have been times when I have wondered how saturated the market it. But then, that is also a wonderful thing as far as the users are concerned. There is such a wide variety of tools for every little use-case that marketing and automation has not only become so easy, but also essential given that every other rival is doing it.

Aug 24, 2016

Thanks for this comprehensive list!

Aug 25, 2015

One of the best SEO analysis tools has been forgotten here: Woorank.com. Here you can directly analyse key SEO metrics each domain without registration.

What a very comprehensive 'megalist' of tools to use. Thanks for sharing this, I appreciate the amount of work that would have gone into compiling this.

I was looking for something to do an Infographic with and will have to give Pictochart a go.

Aug 31, 2015

This is a great list, but the article would have been better if you'd included the pricing with each suggestion....I know they all have different pricing structures, but it would be useful to know which tools were free and which ones were $99 a month.

Aug 31, 2015

What a great list! You may want to add @DashThis (dashthis.com). It's a handy tool to compile the metrics from several of the tools you have listed into one report. After all, using the tools is important--but monitoring their performance...even more so!

I appeciate the effort you put in compiling this list. You expanded my marketing horizons! I’d like to add ConverTiger, a new entry on the field of website monitoring tools. You can view video recordings of how visitors interact with your website and spot any roadblocks that lead to frustration and abandonment. It works well on dynamic websites, too. setting up funnels with retrospective effect is one of my favorite features.

Thanks for this very compelling list. May I suggest an overlooked but essential category - onsite marketing tools?

We here at http://zotabox.com provide exactly that. Popular tools such as promo bars, popups and social buttons and other unique tools to boost subscribers and sales. Half our tools are free forever.

I hope next time you update your list, our name will be amongst your esteemed colleagues.

PS. Your own Adwords Performance Grader provides an essential service too!

Great list! I use most of these tools one of my favourites is tweetdeck. I think you should also include Adsvise it's a really helpful tool especially for marketers & designers. They can find all online ad specifications & sizes along with free psd's. I use it almost daily.

Hi Dan!

Awesome list!

I'd also recommend Visage, it's a tool for non-designers / content marketers to create beautiful dataviz for data storytelling.

Hi Dan!

Thanks for this very informative and helpful list! You might also be interested in adding our tool OnCrawl to it. This SEO solution is a powerful website crawler that provides comprehensive analytics for your Onsite SEO by crawling the entire content of a website.
We have, for instance, launched a new feature that detects any duplicate or near duplicate content. You can try it for free to make your own opinion.

Thanks for your feedback,
Best regards,

Great list with lots of the usual suspects we use daily! Another content curation tool is Lefty (lefty.io). It lets you find and use public Instagram photos to use for your blog, social posts and editorials. Best and only Instagram search engine in the market.

Thanks for the list! I had heard of most of them, but some were completely new. I have been using Social Hub now next and wanted to share it. It’s very helpful for teams managing social media channels in one basic inbox, always keeping a clear overview in real-time.

Such a great post, thanks for the effort Dan! I´ve shared this post with my co-workers, so we can use some to determine new strategies.
Are you known with reporting tools as well? We recently started our free trial at Douply, a cheap and userfriendly tool to easily create reports for example, Adwords, Facebook, Adform and Bing. The first few comments we received from clients on the reports were positive, so we certainly recommend this one.
