Domain: What Is a Domain?
A domain, or domain name, is the part of a URL that identifies a unique website, such as "wordstream.com." All the individual web pages on this site belong to this domain. A top-level domain is a two- or three-letter abbreviation that designates the category or geographic location of a doman, such as .com (commercial), .edu (education), or .gov (government agency).
